In the first half of 2026, the volume of transit cargo via Azerbaijan increased by 10 percent, reaching approximately 8 million tons.
According to news from elchi, this was stated by the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev during his speech at the meeting of the CIS Council of Heads of State held in Turkmenbashi.
According to the head of state, Azerbaijan, with its favorable geographical position, has created a modern transport and logistics infrastructure almost from scratch.
“By ensuring reliable transit along the North-South and East-West international corridors, Azerbaijan is consistently strengthening its position as a major transport hub in the region,” emphasized President Ilham Aliyev.
