Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has supported the US President Donald Trump administration’s decision to impose sanctions on the International Criminal Court (ICC).
elchi reports that the press service of the head of the Israeli government announced this on the social network “X”.
“I highly appreciate President Donald Trump and Secretary of State Marco Rubio’s decision to impose sanctions on the International Criminal Court. The ICC is not a court, but a political body that poses a mortal threat to law-abiding democracies worldwide and the very idea of national sovereignty. Thank you for your leadership,” the statement said.
Earlier, Netanyahu criticized the Nobel Committee’s decision to award the Peace Prize to Navi Pillay, accusing her of “losing her moral compass.” He stated that Pillay had spread false accusations against Israel and also accused her of helping former ICC prosecutor Karim Khan form a case against Israel.
The US imposed sanctions on the ICC on Friday – this happened just a few hours after one of its former judges, Navi Pillay, received the Nobel Peace Prize.
