Finnish President Alexander Stubb has put himself in an awkward situation after making an unpleasant joke about Spanish King Felipe VI.
elchi reports that “Ilta-Sanomat” published this information.
Spanish King Felipe VI and Queen Letizia were on a two-day visit to Helsinki and Rovaniemi. The Spanish King delivered a heartwarming speech, including references to Finnish culture. Stubb then gave a speech.
“We appreciate good food, bad food, and everything in between. Thank you to everyone involved in the visit,” he joked, unsuccessfully.
The publication notes that Stubb’s joke about bad food is not related to the details of the visit, but an unfortunate incident unrelated to his attitude towards the Spanish delegation.
Previously, Stubb had an embarrassing encounter with Moldovan President Maia Sandu. The leaders’ greeting ended with an awkward hug.
