Azerbaijan has protested the mention of Azerbaijan’s name in the investigation related to August Hanning, former head of Germany’s Federal Intelligence Service (BND), by the German publication “Der Spiegel”.

elchi reports, citing APA, that Azerbaijan has expressed its protest to both the German Chancellery office and the German Foreign Ministry through its special services and diplomatic channels.

It should be noted that the German publication “Der Spiegel”, citing sources, mentioned Azerbaijan’s name in the investigation related to August Hanning, former head of Germany’s Federal Intelligence Service (BND). The publication claims that August Hanning spied in favor of Azerbaijan while he was the head of Germany’s Federal Intelligence Service (BND) from 1998 to 2005, preparing certain confidential reports and handing them over to the Azerbaijani side.

It should be added that the Council of Media and Broadcasting has also issued a statement regarding the issue.
