The Social Services Agency under the Ministry of Labor and Social Protection of the Population provided 9,000 people with disabilities with 376,000 rehabilitation aids from January to August of this year.
According to the information provided to elchi by the Ministry of Labor and Social Protection of the Population, 1,599 of the mentioned rehabilitation aids were wheelchairs (including 27 motorized wheelchairs), 1,230 were lower and upper limb prostheses, and 1,896 were canes, crutches, and elbow crutches.
“Also, 5,385 pairs of prosthetic and orthopedic shoes, 1,413 hearing aids, 152 corsets, and other rehabilitation aids were provided to people with disabilities. For those people with disabilities who, or whose relatives, were unable to come to Baku to the Agency’s Prosthetic-Orthopedic Production and Rehabilitation Center to receive the rehabilitation aids, these items were delivered to their homes,” the statement noted.
