IEA: Sharp rise in global diesel prices will strengthen inflationary pressure

The approximate doubling of diesel fuel prices will lead to a strengthening of global inflation in the near future.

“Elchi” reports, citing “Oksijen” publication, that the head of the International Energy Agency (IEA), Fatih Birol, stated this.

“Since the US-Iran conflict began on February 28, world energy markets have essentially entered a new phase. The world is going through an extremely difficult period in terms of diesel fuel. Its price has reached a level that will inevitably strengthen inflationary pressure worldwide in the near future,” he said.

The head of the IEA also recalled that in the initial stage of the Iran conflict, he characterized the situation in energy markets as the “biggest crisis.”

“Currently, oil quotes are around $100 per barrel, which is quite high. However, the value of crude oil is not the main significance, but the price of its refined products, primarily diesel fuel. This will soon become one of the most discussed topics,” Birol emphasized.
