The newly appointed Ambassador of Azerbaijan to Italy, Elchin Huseynli, has presented his credentials to the country’s President, Sergio Mattarella.
According to information provided to “Elchi” by the Embassy of Azerbaijan in Italy, during the meeting held after the official ceremony, Ambassador E. Huseynli conveyed the sincere greetings and best wishes of the President of Azerbaijan, Ilham Aliyev, to President Sergio Mattarella.
The Ambassador stated that bilateral relations based on mutual respect and trust between Azerbaijan and Italy entered a new phase with the signing of the “Joint Declaration on Strengthening the Multidimensional Strategic Partnership between the Republic of Azerbaijan and the Italian Republic” in Rome on February 20, 2020. He noted that the high-level reciprocal visits carried out in recent years have been of decisive importance in further strengthening the Azerbaijan-Italy friendship and strategic partnership, institutional cooperation in political, energy, economic-trade, humanitarian, educational, cultural, and other fields, as well as the ties between our peoples.
Expressing his gratitude for the greetings of the President of Azerbaijan, President Sergio Mattarella, in turn, asked to convey his greetings to his counterpart. He recalled with pleasure his visits to our country in 2018 and 2025, as well as President Ilham Aliyev’s visits to Italy in 2020, 2022, and 2024, and their meetings and conversations.
Sergio Mattarella emphasized the exceptional importance of his country’s bilateral relations with Azerbaijan and expressed his confidence that these relations, based on friendship and multidimensional strategic partnership, will continue to develop successfully.
At the conclusion of the conversation, President Mattarella congratulated the Ambassador on his appointment and wished him success in his diplomatic mission in Italy.
