First rector appointed to the Turkey-Azerbaijan University

The first rector has been appointed to the Turkey-Azerbaijan University.

“Elchi” reports, citing the “Azərbaycan müəllimi” newspaper, that by the decision of the University’s Board of Trustees and the relevant order of the Minister of Science and Education, Naciba Nasibova has been appointed as the rector of the higher education institution.

It should be noted that Naciba Nasibova served as an education counselor at the Embassy of Azerbaijan in Turkey from 1992 to 2026.

Recall that the Turkey-Azerbaijan University was established based on a memorandum signed between the Ministry of Science and Education and the Council of Higher Education of Turkey, with the aim of developing bilateral cooperation in higher education and scientific research between the two countries, mutually enriching higher education systems, strengthening joint academic potential, and ensuring the training of internationally competitive personnel.

Student admission to the university began in the 2024-2025 academic year. The university provides training in three specialties within the technical and technological group: “Computer Engineering,” “Food Engineering,” and “Industrial Engineering.” Training in the “Computer Engineering” specialty is conducted by the Middle East Technical University, in “Food Engineering” by Hacettepe University, and in “Industrial Engineering” by the faculty of Istanbul Technical University. Azerbaijan Technical University is involved in the process as a partner university from the Azerbaijani side. Education at the university is carried out exclusively on the basis of state orders.
