Republican member of the US Congress Abe Hamadeh, following his visit to Azerbaijan and meeting with President Ilham Aliyev, discussed Azerbaijan’s geopolitical importance and its role in the region in an article published in “Newsmax”.
elchi reports that the congressman emphasized that Azerbaijan is one of the most strategically positioned countries in the world.
“Although Azerbaijan is not always at the forefront of Washington’s agenda, it is located in one of the most strategically important places in the world,” Hamadeh noted.
The congressman writes that Azerbaijan, located at the crossroads of Europe and Asia and bordering Russia and Iran, has become an indispensable partner in energy production, transport hubs, and security.
He emphasized that Azerbaijan is playing an increasingly important role in strengthening Europe’s energy independence, expanding trade routes, and ensuring stability in an unstable region.
In his article, Hamadeh also touched upon the peace process between Armenia and Azerbaijan, noting that during Donald Trump’s administration, the parties made significant progress toward achieving a lasting and long-term peace.
“This historic progress creates new opportunities for economic development, regional stability, and long-term prosperity that is only possible in conditions of peace,” he emphasized.
The congressman noted that the historic peace agreement reached between Armenia and Azerbaijan forms a political framework that requires sustained international support and engagement.
“At such a decisive moment, the US cannot afford to remain on the sidelines of the process,” Hamadeh added.
It should be noted that Republican Congressman Abe Hamadeh has been serving as the representative for Arizona’s 8th congressional district in the US Congress since 2025.
