On July 7, the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan, Ilham Aliyev, received Senator Steve Daines, a member of the US Senate Foreign Relations Committee and Chairman of the Subcommittee on Europe and Regional Security Cooperation.
“Elchi” reports that President Ilham Aliyev emphasized that since Donald Trump was elected US President for the second time, our bilateral relations based on cooperation and mutual trust have been developing successfully, noting that our ties have risen to the level of strategic partnership, which is very important for our countries and the region as well.
The head of state recalled with pleasure the visit of US Vice President J.D. Vance to Azerbaijan and touched upon the importance of the signing of the “Strategic Partnership Charter between the Government of the Republic of Azerbaijan and the Government of the United States of America” during that visit in terms of expanding our bilateral relations.
President Ilham Aliyev stated that his personal relations with Donald Trump are also at a high level and emphasized that he plays a special role in advancing the peace agenda between Azerbaijan and Armenia.
Noting that historical events have taken place since Senator Steve Daines’s last visit to our country, the head of state expressed his gratitude to the guest for his efforts in the development of Azerbaijan-US relations.
For his part, Senator Steve Daines said that relations between our countries have been developing successfully in recent times and emphasized that the visit of the President of Azerbaijan to Washington in August last year was a landmark event.
The guest also noted Azerbaijan’s important role at the geopolitical level under the leadership of President Ilham Aliyev.
Steve Daines expressed his gratitude to President Ilham Aliyev for the leadership he has shown regarding the normalization of relations between Azerbaijan and Armenia and the peace agenda.
During the conversation, the importance of the TRIPP corridor in terms of regional transport connections was emphasized, and an exchange of views took place regarding the strengthening of dialogue between Azerbaijan and the US Senate and the prospects for partnership.
