Measles epidemic out of control: 712 children died

In the last 24 hours, four more children have died in the ongoing measles epidemic in Bangladesh. The death toll from the epidemic has reached 712.

In addition, 941 new suspected cases of measles have been detected in the last 24 hours, bringing the total number of suspected cases across the country to 99,207.
The number of people hospitalized with suspected measles since April 10 has reached 82,844, and 79,152 people have been discharged after treatment.
The government in Bangladesh decided to launch an emergency vaccination campaign on April 7 after numerous children died from suspected measles.
Measles, which can cause pneumonia and encephalopathy, is one of the leading causes of vaccine-preventable deaths worldwide.
