Representatives of Lebanon and Israel are discussing the idea of transferring part of the territory in southern Lebanon, occupied by Israeli forces during the conflict with the “Hezbollah” organization, to the control of the Lebanese army during negotiations held in Washington.
elchi reports that the “Reuters” agency has provided information about this, citing its sources in Lebanon and Israel.
The agency’s interlocutors stated that, according to the US-backed plan, Lebanese soldiers must first undergo a training and vetting phase by the Americans. In this way, the US will be able to ensure that those soldiers are not affiliated with “Hezbollah”. Israel, for its part, must maintain its military presence in the buffer zone on the border with Lebanon.
