Katz: Even if the US demands it, the Israeli army will not leave Lebanon

Israeli Defense Minister Israel Katz has stated that even if the US makes a direct demand, Israeli troops will not leave Lebanon.

elchi reports that, according to him, 200,000 residents will not be able to return to their homes.

Katz confirmed that the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) do not plan to withdraw their troops from the security zone in southern Lebanon, despite international pressure and the concluded ceasefire agreement. Israeli forces will remain in the positions they hold in Lebanon, Syria, and the Gaza Strip. The duration is not limited — this is necessary to protect border settlements from jihadist groups.

The minister specifically highlighted the refusal to abandon important strategic heights, including Beaufort Castle. Israel insists on having “full freedom of action” for its military in the region in case new threats arise.
