A delegation led by Prosecutor General Kamran Aliyev paid an official visit to Bratislava on June 22-23 at the invitation of his Slovak counterpart, Maroš Žilinka.
According to the information provided to “Elchi” by the Press Service of the Prosecutor General’s Office, during the meeting held at the Prosecutor General’s Office of Slovakia, Maroš Žilinka noted that the development of cooperation with Azerbaijan’s law enforcement agencies is a priority for them, and the current level of existing relations is characterized by a high dynamic of development.
Recalling his visit to Baku last year, the host stated that our country’s experience in the digitalization of criminal prosecution, the application of modern technologies in the activities of prosecution authorities, and the investigation of transnational crimes, including corruption offenses, is of particular interest to them.
Prosecutor General Kamran Aliyev noted that the high-level relations between Azerbaijan and Slovakia have been further strengthened, especially in recent years, as a result of the efforts of the heads of state.
Providing detailed information about the large-scale restoration and reconstruction work carried out under the leadership of President Ilham Aliyev, with the close participation and special care of First Vice-President Mehriban Aliyeva, Kamran Aliyev noted that against the backdrop of Slovak companies contributing to the restoration work in Karabakh, as well as the deepening of relations in fields such as trade, technology, and industry, strengthening professional ties between prosecution authorities is also of current importance. In this context, the Memorandum of Understanding signed between the Prosecutor General’s Offices of both countries last year marks the beginning of a new stage in the development of relations.
During the meeting, an exchange of views took place on practical cooperation in the fight against various forms of crime, including the investigation of transnational and financial crimes, mutual legal assistance in criminal matters and extradition, as well as the organization of mutual training visits and exchange of experience. A preliminary agreement was reached on the preparation of a relevant Program to ensure the development of cooperation relations and the implementation of the previously signed Memorandum of Understanding.
Within the framework of the visit, a bilateral meeting was also held between the delegation and the President of the Judicial Council of the Slovak Republic, Marcela Kosová.
The President provided extensive information about the structure and activities of the judicial system of the Slovak Republic, as well as the mutual relations between judicial and prosecution authorities.
Prosecutor General Kamran Aliyev spoke about the judicial-legal reforms implemented in Azerbaijan.
The parties exchanged views on expanding cooperation in the legal field, and also discussed practical issues related to the organization of court activities and modern and effective approaches to the protection of human rights.
Within the framework of the visit, Prosecutor General Kamran Aliyev also visited the Embassy of Azerbaijan in the Slovak Republic.
The delegation’s visit has concluded.
