Azerbaijan is one of the countries appreciated on the international stage for its economic rise. As a result, our country is recognized globally as a reliable partner and a state open to cooperation. The efficient management of natural resources, the use of energy resources in accordance with national interests, and a far-sighted economic policy are among the key factors ensuring Azerbaijan’s sustainable development. By turning the efficient use of natural resources into a long-term development strategy, Azerbaijan has formed a unique path with the achievements it has attained in the energy sector. The experience gained in the traditional energy sector, combined with the opportunities opening up for new energy directions, further strengthens our country’s position in international economic relations. At the official opening ceremony of the 31st International Caspian Oil and Gas Exhibition “Caspian Oil and Gas”, the 14th Caspian International Power and Green Energy Exhibition “Caspian Power”, and the 31st “Baku Energy Forum”, President Ilham Aliyev touched upon important issues by noting Azerbaijan’s successes in the energy sector, its development in both traditional and green directions, and its positions in international cooperation.
These thoughts were expressed by Rashad Mahmudov, a member of the New Azerbaijan Party Board and a deputy of the Milli Majlis. He noted that, as emphasized by the head of our state, who spoke first and foremost about the importance of the exhibition, the Caspian Oil and Gas Exhibition has formed the foundation of modern Azerbaijan’s energy development. This is because the exhibition, which is in the center of global attention, also promotes Azerbaijan’s achievements in the energy sector on an international scale and expands cooperation opportunities. This serves to significantly increase our country’s prestige in the international arena. In his speech, the President focused on an important issue and gave a noteworthy message. Noting the successful operation of the East–West corridor, the head of our country spoke about the Zangezur route, which will be an important branch of it, and stated that this project will definitely be implemented in accordance with the document signed on August 8, 2025, at the White House with the participation of the US President, the Prime Minister of Armenia, and himself. Undoubtedly, the opening of this project will make a significant contribution to the creation of new transport and cooperation opportunities in the region and on the international stage, as well as to the strengthening of stability and development. In his speech, the head of state made an interesting comparison and clearly expressed a paradoxical reality. While 30 years ago Azerbaijan was trying to attract investors, today the situation has changed, and our country is directing investments abroad. Currently, our state oil company SOCAR is investing in the Middle East, Africa, and Central Asia, and this geography is expected to expand further. Undoubtedly, all these are the logical results of a correct economic policy, a successful energy strategy, and the country’s increasing financial stability.
Furthermore, the President touched upon the strategic projects implemented in the field of green energy and stated that Azerbaijan has entered a new stage of development in the energy sector. Along with its rich hydrocarbon reserves, our country attaches great importance to the efficient use of solar, wind, and hydropower potential. The projects implemented in this direction and international energy cable initiatives further strengthen Azerbaijan’s role in regional energy cooperation, turning our country into one of the important energy hubs in the Eurasian space.
In conclusion, the deputy noted that our country continues effective cooperation with the world and uses its natural resources in accordance with national interests. Undoubtedly, this is the result of President Ilham Aliyev’s pragmatic policy. The Azerbaijani leader managed to move our country forward in a positive direction and bring it to a new stage by changing its investment model.
