A seasonal fishing ban will be imposed in the Caspian Sea basin starting from May 1, 2026.
This was reported to elchi by the Ministry of Agriculture.
It was stated that in connection with this, educational meetings were held with fishermen in various regions by employees of the Fisheries and Aquaculture Center of the Ministry of Agriculture from April 22 to 27, 2026.
The meetings were held jointly with the Water Transport Police Department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Republic of Azerbaijan, coastal control units of the State Border Service, and regional departments of the Ministry of Emergency Situations of the Republic of Azerbaijan in Baku, Sumgayit, Lankaran, Astara, Siyazan, Absheron, Garadagh, and Neftchala districts.
During the meetings, the requirements of the “Rules for Fishing and Other Aquatic Bioresources,” approved by the Cabinet of Ministers’ decision No. 243 dated June 2, 2017, were explained to industrial and amateur fishermen, and detailed discussions were held regarding the protection of aquatic bioresources. Fishermen were provided with extensive information about the seasonal fishing ban that will come into effect on May 1, 2026.
It was emphasized that during the ban period, control measures will be regularly continued by the relevant state agencies to prevent illegal fishing, protect aquatic bioresources, and ensure ecological balance.
We once again remind the public that industrial and amateur fishing is strictly prohibited during the seasonal ban period, and legal measures will be taken against persons who violate these rules.
