Our Compatriots Win Seats in Swedish Elections

The next general elections for the Riksdag, the legislative body of the Kingdom of Sweden, as well as for 21 regional and 290 municipal councils, have been held.

This was reported to elchi by the State Committee on Work with Diaspora.

It was stated that based on the final results of the voting, 6 of our compatriots, representing various leading political parties in Sweden, were elected to the relevant bodies and obtained mandates.

Thus, Aylin Nuri, a member of the Swedish Social Democratic Workers’ Party and one of the party’s official spokespersons on transport policy, was elected as a deputy to the Swedish Parliament. Aida Karimli, a member of the Centre Party, became a member of the Västra Götaland Regional Council and a deputy of the Swedish Parliament as a result of the elections.

Turan Aliyev, a member of the Centre Party, won a seat in the Partille Municipal Council, Aytaç Guliyeva, head of the Green Party’s Haninge organization, won a seat in the Haninge Municipal Council, and Conservative Party members Aygün Alakbarova and Rihad Alakbarov won seats in the Älvkarleby Municipal Council and Gävle Municipal Council, respectively.

The membership of our compatriots in various political parties in Sweden and their representation in elected bodies at different levels were assessed as an indicator of their active participation in the country’s socio-political life.
