“Attacks on civilian ships in the Black Sea are unacceptable” – von der Leyen

The President of the European Commission (EC), Ursula von der Leyen, called the attacks on civilian ships in the Black Sea unacceptable.

elchi reports that “Reuters” disseminated this information.

“Merchant ships and innocent crews are being targeted,” the EC President noted.

According to von der Leyen, concern is growing in Europe regarding the attacks in the Black Sea.

On October 6, a large fire broke out on a Liberian-flagged tanker carrying crude oil from Novorossiysk to India near Sochi. The Russian Ministry of Transport stated that the Aframax Rio tanker was attacked by Ukrainian Armed Forces’ unmanned boats. The crew of 23 Indian citizens was rescued.

The Russian Ministry of Defense has repeatedly stated that it destroys only ships carrying weapons, military equipment, and supplies for the Ukrainian Armed Forces. In the past week, the Russian army has destroyed 17 cargo carriers in the Black Sea carrying supplies for the Ukrainian Armed Forces.
