On October 7, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Azerbaijan, Jeyhun Bayramov, participated and delivered a speech at the meeting of the Ministers of Foreign Affairs of the Central Asian countries and Azerbaijan, held in the “Avaza” National Tourism Zone as part of his working visit to Turkmenistan.
According to the news provided to elchi from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Minister Jeyhun Bayramov emphasized the importance of holding the consultation on the eve of the high-level Summit for preliminary discussions on the main directions of cooperation.
It was noted that Azerbaijan’s admission as a full member to the Consultative Meeting of Heads of Central Asian States last year is an indicator of deep integration processes between our countries, based on historical and cultural ties, mutual trust, and common strategic interests.
In the current era, against the backdrop of increasing global instability, geopolitical competition, and disruptions in supply chains, the necessity of deepening regional cooperation for the economic and energy security of states has been emphasized. Within this framework, the importance of equal and trust-based political dialogue, expansion of trade and mutual investments among the participants of the C6 format has been highlighted.
The Minister touched upon cooperation in the strategically important transport and energy sectors, noting the growing role of the Middle Corridor in shaping sustainable connections between East and West and in international trade. Furthermore, the importance of the developing strategic partnership between our countries in the production and transmission of green energy, as well as transport and digital connectivity projects, for the full realization of the region’s potential was emphasized.
Special attention was paid to the environmental agenda in the speech. Serious concern was expressed regarding the consequences of climate change, Aral Sea and water issues, as well as the negative impact of the continuous decline in the Caspian Sea level on coastal infrastructure and the ecological situation. The importance of a systematic scientific approach, information exchange, and regional cooperation for solving these problems was highlighted.
In conclusion, Minister Jeyhun Bayramov expressed confidence that the documents to be adopted and the agreements to be reached based on the results of the consultation will be a clear direction for future long-term cooperation.
Azerbaijan’s readiness to actively contribute to the strengthening of this format and the implementation of the set tasks was reaffirmed.
