Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan and Russian President Vladimir Putin discussed ensuring safe navigation in the Black Sea and the settlement of the Ukraine conflict during a phone call.

The statement published on the “X” social network emphasized that the conversation touched upon “regional and global issues.”
“President Erdogan stressed the importance of initiatives being implemented to ensure the safe movement of ships in the Black Sea,” the Turkish President’s office said.
Erdogan also expressed his readiness to mediate direct contacts between Russia and Ukraine.
He congratulated Putin on his birthday and the elections to the State Duma in September.
