As of the beginning of 2026, there are 1 million 86 thousand 400 people aged 65 and over living in Azerbaijan. Of these, 496 thousand 800 are between 65-69 years old, and 589 thousand 600 are 70 and over. Individuals in this age group constitute approximately 10.6% of the country’s population. The increase in the number of people aged 65 and over (1 million 86 thousand 400 people), representing 10.6% of the country’s population, indicates a growing aging process, which necessitates the expansion of home-based social services.
It has been reported to elchi from the Social Services Agency that social workers visit citizens’ homes to assist them with household tasks, purchasing essential goods, and other related matters, while social workers provide help with legal documentation and the organization of social protection measures.
Currently, the Social Services Agency has engaged 3010 citizens in home (mobile) social services. Of these, 2792 are elderly individuals. Among the individuals receiving services, 478 have disabilities, and 218 of them are under 70 years old.
