Tensions on the Moscow-Brussels line: Zaharova’s stern message to the EU

The European Union’s (EU) confrontation with Russia will further deepen the problems of the EU and its member states.

elchi reports that this was stated by Russian Foreign Ministry spokesperson Maria Zaharova during a briefing.

“The European Union, first under US pressure, and then out of inertia, has embarked on a path of confrontation with our country. And this path will not allow it to solve its current problems, and never will. Why? Because this path will only exacerbate Europe’s problems,” the diplomat noted.

On October 1, Russian President Vladimir Putin stated that the European Union would collapse due to unsolvable economic problems. The Russian leader also emphasized that Russia is ready to resume negotiations with Europe without preconditions.

Putin also appealed to Western countries, calling on them to live in harmony. According to the head of state, building trust is a complex and fragile process, “difficult to strengthen and very easy to destroy.” Putin added that often even partner countries, even states in a state of confrontation, have conflicting interests.
