Ukrainian specialist Yuriy Maksimov is close to continuing his career in Azerbaijan again.

It is reported that the 57-year-old specialist has accepted the offer from “Araz-Nakhchivan” and will be appointed as the team’s head coach in the near future.
It should be noted that Y. Maksimov is a familiar face in Azerbaijani football. He worked at “Keshla” in 2017-2018 together with Zaur Akhundov, the de facto owner of “Araz-Nakhchivan”. As a head coach, he led this team to win the Azerbaijan Cup.
After 6 games in the Azerbaijan Premier League, “Araz-Nakhchivan” is in the last – 12th place in the standings with 2 points. Yesterday, the club dismissed head coach Javid Huseynov due to poor results.
Throughout his career, the Ukrainian specialist has also coached “Dnipro-1”, “Kryvbas”, “Taraz”, and other clubs. His last job was at “Vorskla”, which he left in the summer of 2025. Maksimov led the Poltava representative to the Ukrainian Cup final in the 2019/20 season.
It should be added that from January to May 2026, “Araz-Nakhchivan” was coached by another Ukrainian specialist, Andriy Demchenko.
