The Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps of Iran has announced that a US-made MQ-1 drone was shot down over the Strait of Hormuz.
“Elchi” reports that the Revolutionary Guard Corps has issued a written statement regarding the incident.
The statement notes that the MQ-1 drone was detected and shot down by Iran’s air defense system over the Strait of Hormuz.
No statement has been issued by the US military regarding the matter yet.
The MQ-1 drone, produced by the US in the 1990s, was initially designed for surveillance and forward reconnaissance missions. Later, new cameras and missiles were added to these aircraft.
