Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky has declared his readiness to meet with Russian President Vladimir Putin, with the participation of US President Donald Trump.
“Elchi” reports that Zelensky, who is in New York to attend the 81st session of the United Nations (UN) General Assembly, held a press conference following a bilateral meeting with US President Donald Trump.
Sharing the details of his meeting with President Trump, Zelensky emphasized the importance of ending the war as soon as possible, stating, “I think we all need to act as quickly as possible.”
Zelensky noted that it is necessary for the leaders to come together to put an end to the Russia-Ukraine war.
Expressing his readiness to meet with Russian President Vladimir Putin, Zelensky noted that Trump could work towards organizing a summit involving the leaders of the US, Russia, and Ukraine.
Emphasizing that if such a meeting were to take place, the leaders of the three countries could discuss the most critical issues regarding the war, Zelensky added: “I am ready for a trilateral meeting, but I do not think Putin is ready for it. He is not ready to end the war.”
Stating that they also discussed the possibility of a ceasefire in the energy sector in the context of the war, Zelensky said: “If [Russia] does not target the energy sector, we are ready for a ceasefire in the energy field.”
Zelensky announced that the US would convey Ukraine’s proposals regarding this ceasefire to Russia.
Recalling that they had previously requested the relevant permission from the US for the production of missiles used in “Patriot” air defense systems, Zelensky also stated that work with the relevant US officials on this matter is ongoing.
