Azerbaijan attaches strategic importance to the development of the Organization of Turkic States and the strengthening of unity among Turkic states. Behind this attitude lies a deeper thought than the alignment of political interests. For Azerbaijan, the unity of the Turkic world is an expression of a historically rooted spiritual bond in today’s political realities. The political support provided by Azerbaijan to the strengthening of the OTS under the leadership of President Ilham Aliyev, the initiatives put forward, and the consistent position are a continuation of this thought in state policy.
President Ilham Aliyev’s reception of the heads of security agencies of the OTS member states in Shamakhi is an indicator of the importance Azerbaijan attaches to strengthening security relations among Turkic states. Undoubtedly, security is one of the fundamental issues that determine the present and the future confidence of states. The expansion of contacts in this area shows that Turkic states are approaching each other’s security concerns more closely. The Shamakhi meeting drew attention as an important political event demonstrating that the idea of shared responsibility regarding security issues in the Turkic world is strengthening.
These thoughts were expressed by Milli Majlis deputy Rəşad Mahmudov. According to him, the views voiced by President Ilham Aliyev while receiving the heads of security agencies of the OTS member countries clearly demonstrated the path of development the organization has taken in recent years and the tasks ahead.
The head of state rightly noted that the initiative founded in Nakhchivan in 2009 is today turning into a broad political platform covering security, energy, transport, trade, and humanitarian relations. This development is the result of the political will, mutual trust, and common interests formed among Turkic states. The vast geography, rich resources, and important transport corridors of the OTS strengthen the organization’s growing role in the international system. In his speech, President Ilham Aliyev closely linked this reality to the issue of security, noting that protecting energy and transport opportunities, ensuring regional stability, and strengthening relations in the field of security among states are the main pillars of the future development of the Turkic world. This reality makes it necessary to further strengthen mutual activities in the field of security within the OTS. Because the common strength of Turkic states is closely linked to the preservation of their common environment of security and stability.
Touching upon the development of the OTS at a time when the world is experiencing complex problems, President Ilham Aliyev stated that stability, peace, and security in the territories of member states play an important role in the success of the organization. As the head of state emphasized, against the backdrop of today’s political realities, stability and security form the basis of every development. The existence of these factors creates favorable conditions for attracting investments, new technologies, and innovations.
The head of state also touched upon the economic growth observed in the OTS space. The increase in industrial production, positive economic indicators, and stable financial systems demonstrate the development potential of Turkic states. At a time when economic and social difficulties are being experienced in various regions of the world, the preservation of positive dynamics in the OTS space attracts attention as a result of the consistent policy implemented in the member states.
In conclusion, the deputy noted that President Ilham Aliyev touched upon an important issue and declared that in order to ensure the consistent development of states and the protection of constitutional order, joint efforts must be made against ideological provocations directed against our countries and peoples. Expressing his attitude towards the influence of foreign narratives spread through various media structures financed from distant centers on social solidarity, state structure, and national values, the head of state stated that Azerbaijan is actively fighting in this direction and has achieved great results. Thus, the further development of the OTS, as noted by President Ilham Aliyev, passes through the further strengthening of mutual trust, joint activities in the field of security, and commitment to common values among member states.
