She stated that during a conversation with Saudi Foreign Minister Faisal bin Farhan, diplomatic efforts to end military operations in Yemen and restore freedom of navigation in the Strait of Hormuz were discussed. “Maritime passage must be unimpeded and free,” Kallas emphasized.
“Europe is helping to protect shipping in the Red Sea from Houthi attacks. Given the deteriorating security situation, the EU’s ‘ASPIDES’ naval operation has raised the combat readiness of its ships while continuing to carry out tasks related to the escort of vessels,” she wrote.
