IAEA: Drone struck the cooling tower of the Kursk NPP

On the morning of September 17, a drone strike hit the cooling tower of an operating power unit at the Kursk Nuclear Power Plant (NPP) in Russia.

This was reported by “Elchi” citing a statement from the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) on the “X” social network.

It was stated that the reactor unit was in operation at the time of the incident, but its operating mode did not change. No fire occurred.

“Strikes against nuclear facilities are unacceptable,” said IAEA Director General Rafael Grossi.

He also once again called for maximum military restraint to prevent the risk of a nuclear accident.
