Members of the MES karate team achieved high results in an international tournament

Members of the Ministry of Emergency Situations’ karate team have achieved high results in an international tournament.

It was stated that an international karate tournament for children, teenagers, youth, and adults was held in Budapest, the capital of Hungary, on September 11-13, organized by the Hungarian Karate Federation.

More than 2,400 athletes from nearly 40 countries around the world tested their strength in kata and kumite competitions.

Members of the children’s karate team of the Azerbaijan Karate Federation and the Sports-Health Club of the MES, who participated in the prestigious competition, managed to achieve high results. Specifically, in the kumite competitions, Chingiz Abbasov won all 5 of his bouts in the -24kg weight category (U-8 category), and Nazrin Shahmammadli won all 6 of her bouts in the -42kg weight category (U-14 category), both climbing to the highest step of the podium. In addition, another team member, Ramal Shahmammadli, won a silver medal after competing in 5 bouts in the -35kg weight category (U-12 category).

The winners were presented with cups, medals, and diplomas established by the Hungarian Karate Federation.

It should be noted that the team prepared for and competed in the tournament under the leadership of coach-instructor Joshgun Sadigov.

The head of the Sports-Health Club of the MES, Colonel Fuzuli Musayev, met with the successful athletes and the team’s coach-instructor, congratulated them on their achievements, and wished them success in future competitions.
