Within the framework of the business visit of the delegation led by Minister of Economy Mikayil Jabbarov to the Swiss Confederation, a number of meetings were held, as well as the 10th meeting of the Joint Commission on Trade and Economic Cooperation.
“Elchi” reports with reference to the Ministry of Economy that the President of the Swiss Confederation, Head of the Federal Department of Economic Affairs, Education and Research Guy Parmelin received Minister of Economy Mikayil Jabbarov.
Issues on the agenda of Azerbaijan–Switzerland relations were discussed at the reception. It was emphasized that the strong bilateral relations between our countries are based on mutual respect and trust, and that there are broad opportunities for further development of the partnership in the coming period.
The importance of expanding trade and investment cooperation, identifying new directions within the framework of the activities of the Intergovernmental Commission, as well as further strengthening humanitarian ties was noted.
Minister of Economy Mikayil Jabbarov met with Andrea Rauber Saxer, Delegate of the Swiss Confederation for Trade Agreements and Head of the Bilateral Economic Relations Division of the State Secretariat for Economic Affairs.
During the meeting, an exchange of views took place on priority directions for the development of the Azerbaijan–Switzerland economic partnership. It was stated that expanding direct contacts between the business circles of the two countries, promoting mutual investments, and realizing new joint initiatives will contribute to further strengthening the economic partnership.
Within the framework of the visit, the 10th meeting of the Joint Commission on Trade and Economic Cooperation between the Government of the Republic of Azerbaijan and the Swiss Federal Council was held.
At the meeting, attended by the co-chairs of the Joint Commission, Mikayil Jabbarov and Andrea Rauber Saxer, priority directions for the development of the Azerbaijan–Switzerland economic partnership, as well as the current state of trade and investment relations, were reviewed.
Issues of expanding the partnership with the Swiss Confederation in a bilateral format and within the framework of international financial institutions were discussed.
New perspectives for cooperation in the fields of industry, energy, digital economy, innovation, agriculture, and tourism were highlighted. The opportunities created for foreign partners by Azerbaijan’s favorable investment environment, strategic transport connections, green energy potential, and measures implemented in the direction of digital transformation were emphasized. State support mechanisms applied for business development in our country, including in the Karabakh and East Zangezur economic regions, were brought to attention.
At the conclusion of the meeting, the Protocol of the 10th meeting of the Joint Commission on Trade and Economic Cooperation between the Government of the Republic of Azerbaijan and the Swiss Federal Council was signed.
