The next meeting of the Board of the Justice, Law, Democracy (JDP) Party has been held. Socio-economic and socio-political issues occurring in the republic and the world were discussed at the meeting. Following the discussions, a statement by the Board was adopted.
The statement says: “The Justice, Law, Democracy (JDP) Party appreciates the increase in the salaries of medical workers and the decision of the Cabinet of Ministers of the Republic of Azerbaijan to name the new Baku Metro station located at 194 Jalil Mammadguluzadeh Street, Nasimi district, as ’20 September’.
The JDP Party also believes that the full restoration of state sovereignty and the end of Armenian separatism, Armenian fascism, and terrorism are of historical significance, equal to the victory achieved in the 44-day Patriotic War.
On September 20, 2023, with the help of the Almighty, the political will of the Supreme Commander-in-Chief, the unity of the Azerbaijani people, and the successful operations of the army, state sovereignty was fully ensured throughout the entire territory of Azerbaijan, including Khankendi. September 20 is also the day when the ‘Contract of the Century’, which laid the foundation for our future victories, was signed by the late President Heydar Aliyev.
The JDP Party calls on the government to name the Central Park, located near the Taza Pir Mosque and one of the largest recreation areas in the city, as ’20 September Park’, taking into account the historical significance of this achievement.”
The statement also highlights the importance of strengthening the social protection of low-income people: “The JDP Party also calls on the government to adopt serious decisions aimed at strengthening the social protection of low-income people.
Although the relevant state bodies have not fully disclosed official statistical data to the public regarding how many people in the country receive age-based allowances (220 manats), minimum pensions (320 manats), and minimum wages (400 manats), according to estimates based on statistical models, their number is in the hundreds of thousands. The figures show that in the face of the current price increases, these compatriots of ours may face problems with normal nutrition. Following the increase in the salaries of medical workers, the salaries of teachers, those working in the field of science, judges, and police officers should also be increased to a significant level. To cover the rising current expenses, the JDP Party calls on the government to end the excessive centralization in public administration, which is one of the biggest obstacles to our development, and to carry out major economic reforms that will fully ensure the transition to a free market economy.”
The statement also criticizes the statement of the US Vice President: “The JDP Party believes that the statements by the US Vice President and CNN regarding Azerbaijan helping the US in a war against Iran are a provocation aimed at straining Azerbaijan’s relations with Iran. If Azerbaijan were helping the US in a war against Iran, they would not announce it, because it would simply be treason. It seems that the US is dissatisfied with Azerbaijan not helping it in a war against Iran and not joining the sanctions against Iran.”
Another issue highlighted was related to Azerbaijan-Armenia relations: “Considering the transportation of goods to Armenia through Azerbaijan and the establishment of trade relations between the two countries, the JDP Party proposes that Azerbaijan establish diplomatic relations with Armenia until a final peace treaty is signed.
There is such an example in international practice. In 1956, Japan and Russia restored diplomatic relations without signing a peace treaty, and these relations continue to this day.”
