The Municipal Development Fund of Georgia will procure services for the design and construction of a new building for the Embassy of Georgia in Azerbaijan.
elchi reports that this was stated in a decree signed by the Prime Minister of Georgia, Irakli Kobakhidze.
According to the document, the embassy building will be constructed on a land plot of 3444.5 sq. meters located at the intersection of Nariman Narimanov and Bashir Safaroglu streets in the Yasamal district of Baku. The procurement process will be carried out based on a unified “Design-Build” contract, encompassing both design and construction phases.
The work, planned for 2026, will be financed by funds approved in the state budget for the Municipal Development Fund of Georgia. Funding for subsequent stages will be included in the budgets for 2027 and, if necessary, for subsequent years.
Upon completion of the construction, the building will be transferred to the balance of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Georgia.
It should be noted that the Azerbaijani side handed over the land plot for the construction of the new embassy building to Georgia in January 2025. The area has been allocated for both the embassy building and the ambassador’s residence.
Currently, the Embassy of Georgia in Azerbaijan is located at Yashar Huseynov Street 13/15 in the Narimanov district of Baku.
