Brazilian politician Flavio Bolsonaro, who lost the presidential election, has declared himself “Leader of Brazil” after violating a court order and traveling to the US.
elchi reports, citing the “dpa” agency, that in his first public statement after arriving in Miami, he first called himself the “true elected president” and then changed this phrase to “Leader of Brazil.”
Bolsonaro accused the government of falsifying election results and stated his intention to continue the political struggle from abroad.
“I did not run away from Brazil. I left for Brazil,” he wrote on the social network “X”, claiming that the criminal prosecution was politically motivated.
According to official data, in the second round of the elections, Bolsonaro received 48.2% of the votes, losing to the current president, Luis Inacio Lula da Silva, who garnered 51.8% of the votes. Bolsonaro’s party has already recognized Lula’s victory.
It is reported that the politician left the country via Argentina and arrived in Miami with his family. Earlier, a court had banned him from leaving Brazil as part of an investigation into suspected money laundering. Bolsonaro himself denies these accusations.
