President Donald Trump, evaluating the results of the midterm elections in the US, where Democrats gained the upper hand, stated that he is “completely confident” that his decision regarding Iran was correct.
elchi reports that Trump, joining a live broadcast via a call from Dasha Burns of the *Politico* publication, commented on the election results available at that moment.
Repeating his claim that he would have easily won the elections if his name had been on the ballot, Trump said: “I told people to think as if my name was on the ballot, but the voters did not approach the issue that way. In many cases, they simply did not like the candidates.”
Expressing his readiness to work with Democrats, Trump noted that although he has the authority to veto everything, he does not want to spend the next two years doing so.
“I am completely confident in my decision regarding Iran.”
Touching upon the possible impact of the election results on his Iran policy, Trump stated that some have criticized him, claiming that oil prices have risen because of Iran. He said: “I am completely confident and still believe that my decision regarding Iran was the right decision for the long-term interests of our country, as well as the entire world.”
In response to a question about whether tensions with Iran would further increase, Trump said they would assess the situation and take action if they saw an “opportunity.”
Regarding speculations about the possibility of using nuclear power against Iran, Trump said: “I don’t need to do that. We have already crushed them.”
