The Central Bank of Azerbaijan (CBA) has raised its forecasts for the current account surplus for 2026 and 2027.
elchi reports that this was stated in the CBA’s announcement regarding the parameters of the interest rate corridor.
According to the updated forecasts, a surplus of 8.5 billion US dollars is expected in the current account in 2026, and 5.4 billion US dollars in 2027. This corresponds to levels above 10% and 6% of GDP, respectively.
The increase in forecasts is attributed to high prices for key export products, as well as the continuation of positive trends in the export of non-oil and gas goods and services.
It should be noted that according to the State Customs Committee, a positive balance of 10.5 billion dollars was recorded in Azerbaijan’s foreign trade in January-September of this year.
