In Azerbaijan, families with the lowest consumption expenditures have a higher number of family members.
According to information obtained by “Elchi” from the State Statistical Committee, the average family size in households included in the lowest consumption expenditure group – the first quintile – is 4.6 people. In the second quintile, this figure was 4.5 people, in the third quintile 4.2 people, in the fourth quintile 3.6 people, and in the fifth quintile with the highest consumption expenditures, it was 2.9 people.
Statistics show a similar picture in both urban and rural areas. In cities, the average size of families in the lowest consumption group was 4.5 people and 2.7 people in the highest group, while in rural areas, it was 4.9 and 3.0 people, respectively.
