Singaporean authorities are imposing fines of approximately $400 for violating public order on buses.
“Elchi” reports that this was stated in information published by Singapore’s Land Transport Authority.
The new rules will come into effect on September 23, 2026.
“Actions that violate public order on buses will be classified as offenses. The maximum fine will be 500 Singapore dollars (approximately 392 US dollars),” the statement notes.
Listening to loud music, eating, littering, and putting feet on seats will be prohibited on buses. Passengers may be fined for such actions.
As for more serious violations, such as endangering the lives of passengers or polluting vehicles, a fine of 5,000 Singapore dollars (approximately 3.9 thousand dollars) is provided.
