The construction of the marine section of the Trans-Caspian fiber-optic communication line (FOCL) laid along the bottom of the Caspian Sea in Kazakhstan has been successfully completed.
elchi reports that the Ministry of Digital Development and Aerospace Industry of Kazakhstan has released information regarding this.
According to the report, within the framework of the project implemented by Kazakhtelecom and AzerTelecom International, the submarine cable has been brought to the shores of Kazakhstan. The new line, laid along the Aktau–Sumgayit route, will create a high-speed data transmission corridor between Asia and Europe and strengthen the digital connectivity between Kazakhstan and Azerbaijan.
Currently, work is underway to connect the cable to the coastal infrastructure. The project is planned to be fully completed in the autumn of this year.
The construction and operation of the Trans-Caspian fiber-optic line are being carried out by CaspiLink B.V., a joint venture of Kazakhtelecom and AzerTelecom International. The project is financed by the operators themselves, without the allocation of funds from the state budget.
