“Ukraine is taking revenge on Iran”
This claim was made to Yenicag.az by Niyamaddin Ordukhanli, Secretary General of the Justice, Law, and Democracy Party (AHDP) and political analyst.
The political analyst pointed out that Ukraine’s sinking of an Iranian ship will have serious political consequences:
“Since the beginning of the Russia-Ukraine war, Iran has been providing close support to its close and strategic ally, Russia. Russia-Iran relations have existed for many years, and the parties cooperate closely in all areas. Ukraine has repeatedly stated that Russia is using Iranian drones and other military equipment in the war. In recent days, Ukraine has already been delivering heavy strikes on Russia’s oil refineries and other strategic facilities in Moscow, Saint Petersburg, and other cities using drones. Reports are circulating about a gasoline crisis in Russia, and videos showing long queues in cities due to fuel shortages are being shared.”
N. Ordukhanli characterized Ukraine’s striking of the Iranian ship as a revenge operation:
“The striking of the Iranian ship in the Caspian Sea is a targeted attack by Ukraine on Iran. Ukraine is taking its revenge on Iran. It also wants to show that it will strike countries supporting Russia whenever the opportunity arises. Some time ago, Ukraine announced that it would take similar steps against Belarus. Kyiv considers it a favorable moment to strike Iran at a time when the US and Israel are conducting operations against the country.”
