FIFA President Gianni Infantino has offered each member association of the organization financial support in the amount of 40 million US dollars in exchange for the approval of a plan to sell a portion of the World Cup rights to foreign investors.

According to the source, the matter concerns the distribution of revenue to be generated from the sale of a portion of the World Cup rights. The proposal has been sent to FIFA’s 211 member associations, and they have been given 53 days to make a decision.
In a letter addressed to the associations, Gianni Infantino emphasized that the final decision rests with them. If the plan is approved, a financing package totaling 10 billion US dollars will come into effect starting January 1, 2027, marking the beginning of a new phase of cooperation.
If the associations reject the proposal, FIFA will maintain its previously announced financing program and increase its volume by an additional 2.7 billion US dollars.
However, some sources opposed to the involvement of foreign investors have characterized Infantino’s proposal as an incentive, or even a bribe-like move, to gain the member associations’ consent for the sale of the World Cup rights.
