The rules for the energy efficiency certification of buildings in Azerbaijan have been determined, and a new procedure will be applied in this field.
“Elchi” reports that Prime Minister Ali Asadov has signed a decree in this regard.
According to the rules approved by the decree, the energy efficiency certification of residential and non-residential buildings will be mandatory, while the energy efficiency passport for other buildings will be obtained voluntarily by the owner or manager. The new document will include the energy and carbon dioxide emission classes of the buildings, the percentage of renewable energy sources used, as well as indicators of energy consumption for heating, cooling, hot water, lighting, and ventilation.
This passport, which will be issued in electronic form, will remain valid for 10 years, provided that no reconstruction or major repair work is carried out on the building. The certification procedure will be carried out through the Energy Efficiency Information System (EEIS) by special developers who have the relevant license and access rights to the system, based on a contract.
According to the decree, the Cabinet of Ministers’ decision No. 73 dated March 11, 2014, has been repealed. This decision will enter into force on January 1, 2027.
