NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte has admitted that the alliance cannot fully cope with supplying Ukraine with air defense (AD) systems, but is “doing everything it can”.
elchi reports that he stated this at a press conference held ahead of the summit to be held in Ankara on July 7-8.
“There are certain limits to the production of air defense assets in Europe,” he said while answering a question about the “devastating Russian strikes” launched on Kyiv.
“NATO countries are doing everything in their power, especially within the framework of the PURL system (purchasing weapons from the US at the expense of European funds). Even as we speak, interceptor missiles are arriving in Ukraine,” Rutte noted, while also emphasizing the importance of producing air defense assets within Ukraine itself.
