Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan has stated that if Russia decides to withdraw its military base from Armenia, Yerevan will not object.
According to “Elchi”, Pashinyan addressed this issue during a briefing with journalists following an Armenian government meeting.
“We have never raised the issue of the Russian military base during this period. We do not consider the presence of Russia’s 102nd military base on Armenian territory a vital necessity. If Russia decides to withdraw the military base from Armenia, we will not object, but if they want to stay, we are ready to discuss that as well. However, we have never raised these issues during this period,” Pashinyan noted.
It should be recalled that in a conversation with journalists after his meeting with Pashinyan in Bishkek, Russian President Vladimir Putin touched upon the topic of the Russian military base in Armenia. He emphasized that if Armenia thinks it does not need the Russian military base, they could leave tomorrow.(apa)
