“The Azerbaijan Army makes significant contributions to ensuring international peace and security.”
“Elchi” reports that this was stated by Major General Elchin Abdullayev, Chief of the International Military Cooperation Department of the Ministry of Defense of Azerbaijan, at the presentation of the “Report on Peacekeeping Operations of the Azerbaijan Army.”

Elchin Abdullayev emphasized that Azerbaijan and Turkey were the last countries to leave Afghanistan during the troop withdrawal process. According to him, this is an indicator of the high responsibility and trust shown toward international missions.
He noted that Azerbaijan’s participation in peacekeeping operations, in addition to fulfilling international obligations, serves to increase the prestige of the country’s Armed Forces, create new cooperation opportunities, and further enhance the professionalism of the army.
The Major General added that modern processes taking place in the region and the world make it necessary to further strengthen the potential of the Azerbaijan Army. According to him, the implemented reforms also include increasing the combat readiness and operational capabilities of peacekeeping units.
