Iran will not be able to collect fees for ships passing through the Strait of Hormuz as part of a deal with the US.
“Elchi” reports, citing “The Times of Israel”, that US Secretary of State Marco Rubio told journalists this after arriving in Abu Dhabi.
According to him, such conditions would contradict international law norms.
Previously, Oman and Iran agreed to continue discussions on the future management of shipping in the Strait of Hormuz, including maritime services and related costs on this strategically important route.
In a joint statement published after the talks held in Muscat, both countries announced the creation of a joint working group with the participation of the two countries’ foreign ministries to continue the discussions. It was also noted that Oman and Iran will hold consultations with other coastal states and interested parties regarding this issue.
