Azerbaijan and Kazakhstan will complete the laying of the Trans-Caspian fiber-optic cable line along the bottom of the Caspian Sea in October.
elchi reports that this was announced by the Deputy Prime Minister of Kazakhstan – Minister of Digital Development, Innovation and Aerospace Industry, Jaslan Madiyev, at a government meeting.
According to him, 390 kilometers of fiber-optic cable have been laid from the Sumgayit coast to the Aktau coast.
The project is being implemented by “Kazakhtelecom” and Azerbaijan’s “AzerTelecom” companies. The Trans-Caspian fiber-optic cable line will create an alternative digital route for high-speed data transmission between Europe and Asia.
It should be noted that the project is one of the main components of the “Digital Silk Road” initiative. The maximum transmission capacity of the line is reported to be up to 400 Tbit/s.
