Within the framework of the “Social Work in Education” service of the Social Services Agency under the Ministry of Labor and Social Protection of the Population, social workers have made a total of 1,349 school visits during the past period.
This was reported to elchi by the Ministry of Labor and Social Protection of the Population.
It was stated that within the framework of this service, which has been implemented since 2023 through the cooperation of the agency and the State Agency for Preschool and General Education under the Ministry of Science and Education, children at risk of falling into difficult life circumstances are identified, and social-psychological work is carried out with them.
“During the past period, initial assessments were conducted with 5,399 children at school. Detailed assessments were carried out by visiting the families of 2,036 children whose situations were considered more high-risk. As a result, social-oriented work was carried out with the children’s families, and the school attendance of 460 children in the risk group was restored.
Neglected and homeless children were placed in the Agency’s relevant Children’s Home social service institution, and some were directed to individual education. Also, 123 children with speech and communication difficulties were involved in speech therapy services. 124 families were referred to relevant institutions under the Ministry, and support was provided to resolve their social problems.
Furthermore, during the mentioned period, awareness-raising meetings on various topics (children’s rights, family values, early marriage, domestic violence, harmful habits, protection of mental health, etc.) were organized in nearly 190 general education institutions located in Baku and the regions.
The work carried out within the framework of the “Social Work in Education” service aims to promote attention and care for children, prevent ill-treatment and violence against them, and increase awareness in this area,” the report noted.
