An event dedicated to the 103rd anniversary of the prominent ophthalmologist-scientist, Academician Zarifa Aliyeva, has been held in the Absheron district.
“Elchi” reports that the event was attended by the Head of the Absheron District Executive Authority Abdin Farzaliyev, Members of the Milli Majlis Nigar Mammadova, Rizvan Nabiyev, Zaur Shukurov, and Ramid Namazov, Chairman of the YAP Absheron District Organization Abbas Aliyev, heads of the district’s law enforcement agencies, families of martyrs, veterans, and the district public. Participants first laid wreaths at the monument to the National Leader Heydar Aliyev, paying deep tribute to his memory.
At the event held at the Heydar Aliyev Center in Khirdalan city, a minute of silence was observed to honor the dear memory of our people’s National Leader Heydar Aliyev, Academician Zarifa Aliyeva, and all our heroes who rose to the peak of martyrdom for the integrity of our homeland.
Following this, a documentary film prepared by the Absheron District Executive Authority, reflecting the life and activities of Academician Zarifa Aliyeva, was screened.
Speaking at the event, the Head of the Absheron District Executive Authority Abdin Farzaliyev spoke about the academic and public activities of Zarifa Aliyeva. Emphasizing that Zarifa Aliyeva had exceptional services in the development of ophthalmology and that many eye diseases prevalent in our country were treated following her scientific research, the Head of the Executive Authority stated that Zarifa Aliyeva won everyone’s love by embodying all the moral qualities of a true Azerbaijani woman. Noting that our people always remember Zarifa Aliyeva with great love and affection, the Head of the Executive Authority added that it was her honorable destiny to be the life partner of our people’s National Leader Heydar Aliyev and the mother of the Victorious Supreme Commander-in-Chief, President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev.
Member of the Milli Majlis Nigar Mammadova noted that Zarifa Aliyeva made great contributions to the development of our Azerbaijan, as well as world medical science, and by being a loyal comrade-in-arms, a wonderful mother, and a great ophthalmologist-scientist who could serve as an example to Azerbaijani women, she cared for our nation and its children with her medical knowledge.
Member of the Milli Majlis Rizvan Nabiyev spoke about the unparalleled services of Zarifa Aliyeva in the medical field, stating that as a result of the academician’s activities, a large number of young scientists have been trained in our country. Speaking about her public activities, he noted that she remained in the memory of our people as a kind, humanist, and public figure and is always remembered with fond memories.
Then, Tahmina Valiyeva, wife of the Patriotic War martyr, Lieutenant Ilgar Valiyev, and Head of the Department at the Absheron District Central Hospital, spoke about the life and activities of Zarifa Aliyeva, touching upon her exceptional services in the development of ophthalmology and her work in treating trachoma, which was once widespread in Azerbaijan.
At the end of the event, an artistic program was presented by renowned Azerbaijani artists.
