Personal exhibition titled “Image etched in memory” opened at the National Carpet Museum

At the Azerbaijan National Carpet Museum, with the support of the .ART global domain, a personal exhibition by multidisciplinary artist Madina Gasimova titled “Image etched in memory” has been opened.

elchi reports that Leyla Aliyeva and Alena Aliyeva attended the event.

Speaking at the opening ceremony of the exhibition, Amina Malikova, Director of the National Carpet Museum, noted that 28 works created by the artist over the last five years are on display. “Five new carpets, woven based on the artist’s sketches in the museum’s traditional technology department, form an important part of the exposition. These works demonstrate the possibilities of expressing modern imagery in textiles, creating a meaningful dialogue between traditional craft and contemporary art. Within the framework of the exhibition, four embodiments of the work “Flowers for Mothers” – painting, carpet, stained glass, and digital interpretation – will be included in the museum’s permanent collection,” added A. Malikova.

Emphasizing that the same image is embodied in different forms within the project, the director said: “The image moves from painting to the digital plane, and then gains new meaning in material carriers such as stained glass, mosaic, or carpet. Thus, the image does not remain in a fixed frame, but transforms and continues its life in different materials. The repeating motifs that form the internal rhythm of the exposition – the changing of seasons, floral compositions, portraits of men and women, Baku cityscapes, and abstract forms – are presented in various materials and techniques, creating a visual, emotional, and immersive environment. A sound installation specially prepared for the exhibition based on the recording of the carpet weaving process is also presented here.”

Deputy Minister of Culture Saadat Yusifova stated that this exhibition speaks to the author’s rich and powerful creative energy. “The Ministry of Culture pays special attention to creative individuals and creates broad opportunities to support the work of talented youth. Creating conditions for young artists to be recognized at the international level is a priority. The author’s distinct visual language and bold approach to art make her stand out creatively and innovatively. We are confident that the exhibition will be memorable for both local and foreign visitors and will contribute to the development of contemporary art,” added S. Yusifova.

The exhibition curator, Director of Development at the Almaty Museum of Arts and expert in museum innovation, Vladimir Opredelenov, said that the artist’s work is based on traditions, filtered through history, and at the same time forms a unity with modern technologies.

The exhibition will continue until May 15.
