The risk of an arms race in space and the transformation of near-Earth space into a new military operations theater is increasing, posing a major challenge to its safe use.
“Elchi” reports that this was stated in China’s official position on outer space, published by the “Xinhua” agency.
“The risks of an arms race in space and the tendency for outer space to become a military operations theater have become the greatest threats and challenges to security in space. Strengthening global governance of outer space is an urgent task facing humanity, as well as a shared responsibility of all countries,” the document states.
